In The Kitchen: Sweets

Hi!
In my vacation haul I said that I had a new idea.
And this is it!
Let me explain what I am going to do.
Lately I have been really enjoying cooking and watching cooking tutorials.
So I thought I would show you what I make and which recipe I used for it.
To start of this series I wanted to show you some sweets that I made.
I do have to say that these pictures are taken with my iPhone.
So some pictures aren't too great.

I am going to start of with an easy one.
This is a rasta jello I made with my brother.
We bought the packages of instant jello at a supermarket in Germany.
It is really easy, just make the bottom color first (red) and pour that into your mold.
Let that set and than add the second color (yellow) over it.
And after that has set you just want to add the last color (green).

The only thing that you really need to know before you make this is that you need to be sure that the jello layers have set and that the next layer of jello you are going to pour in the mold is cooled.
If your previous layers aren't set or the next layer is too hot, the colors are going to mix and you won't get a layered effect.

Here is a cute recipe for you!
This was my first time making macaroons from scratch and they were pretty nice!
I choose to make vanilla macaroons with a strawberry butter cream and raspberries in the middle.
This recipe is a great one and I thought the macaroons tasted amazing.

The only problem I had was that my sugar wasn't fine enough.
Here in Holland you can't get big bags or tubs of icing sugar so I have to blend my own.
And let's just say I am not that patient.

These treats are sweet but also have a nut flavor because of the almonds in the macaroons.
I think they look great on a cute plate or in a small box to give away.

Ok, so this is a great one for after dinner if you are having coffee.
It is a homemade After Eight bar.

Basically all you are going to do is melt half of the chocolate and pour it over a piece of plastic wrap.
And while that is setting you want to make the mint filling.

It is just a quick mixture of egg white, icing sugar and peppermint essence.
For the quantities please check out this recipe.
The recipe also suggests you to tint the fondant filling but I just left it white.
Spread the fondant over the set chocolate layer and pour over the rest of chocolate over the fondant.
Put it back into the fridge and let it harden.

I have too say that I really liked this one.
Normally I don't like dark chocolate but I did like this one for some reason.
And if you don't like dark chocolate you can always use a different kind of chocolate.
Or marble different types of chocolate!

Here is the last one for you.
It is Juicystar07s apple pie with a Dutch twist.
I love the caramel part in it! It tasted so yummy!

And the Dutch twist?
A simple Dutch crust instead of the American pie crust.
It's simple!
Just mix 150 grams of butter and 80 grams of sugar until combined.
Then add in 2 eggs and 250 gram of all purpose flour.
Mix until you have a nice dough.

For the rest I just followed the video.

I hope you liked it.

Stamping Saturday: Fall Floral

Hi!
I was wearing the lilac polish when I decided that I should try a light blue stamp over it.
After removing the manicure because I had chipped I knew how what I wanted to do with this manicure, I needed to add some flowers to give this manicure more dimension.

What I used:
Colors: Paris Memories 258, Kiko 314, Konad Sky Blue, Konad Dark Purple.
Other Products: Stamping Products, Essence Image Plate, Konad M29.
Topcoat: Seche Vite.

1.Apply your base coat.

2.Paint your nails a lilac shade.
Kiko 314 is a quite sheer polish so I choose to apply 2 layers of Paris Memories 258 and topped it off with one coat of 314.

3.Stamp the patterned image all over the nail.
I stamped the image multiple times to cover the whole nail, making sure the patterns would line up nicely with the previous one.

4.Stamp on the flower image multiple times.
I choose to stamp with Dark Purple by Konad

5.Apply a layer of topcoat.

I hope you liked it.

Spirng Half Moon Manicure

Hi!
I was in Dutch class and finished my homework so I had some spare time.
So I came up with this design during that class.
I don't know why but every now and then I have ideas for manicures during my classes.

What I used:
Base Coat: Models Own 3-in-1.
Colors: Essie Mint Candy Apple, Misa Paydays Are Happy Days, Sephora Cha Cha.
Other Products: Clear AB Rhinestones, Lilac Rhinestones.
Topcoat: Seche Vite.

1.Start off with your base coat and mint polish all over the nail.

2.Make a half moon and paint the top part with a taupe color.

3.Apply a pearly nude color over the taupe.
I have been obsessed with this combination!

4.Apply a row of clear AB rhinestones where the nude and mint meet.
I used 2mm rhinestones.

5.Place the lilac rhinestones under the clear ones, where two clear rhinestones meet.

6.Apply your topcoat.

I hope you liked it.

Stamping Saturday: Rainy Days

Hi!
Since it is fall, I just had to do a manicure inspired by the rainy weather that fall gives us.
Or at least most of us gets bad weather.

If I would do this manicure again I would make the background a light blue and then sponge a light grey over it instead of the dark grey base with grey sponging.

What I used:
Colors: Sephora Elegant Grey, H&M Dusty Nails, Konad Sky Blue, Konad Blue, Konad Dark Orange.
Other Products: Stamping Products, Essence Image Plate, Konad M13, Kiko Sweet Pastels, Sponge
Topcoat: Seche Vite.

1.Apply your base coat and apply a coat of a clear polish.

2.Dab the shadow over the sticky clear polish.
I did this but I would recommend you to skip this step and apply a light blue polish.

3.Sponge the grey polishes over your base color.
This will give a cloudy effect to the nail.

4.Stamp the drop image on the top of the nail.
I applied the two blues to random places of the image.

5.Stamp the umbrella image under the raindrops.

6.Apply your topcoat.

I hope you liked it.

Fading & Tribal

Hi!
The inspiration for this manicure came for this picture.
What can I say? I love tribal and I love ombre effects.
Basically a match made in heaven!

Colors: Paris Memories 234, China Glaze Are You Jelly?, CiatƩ Knickerbocker Glory, Rimmel Sky High, Black Acrylic Paint.
Other Products: Sponge.
Topcoat: Seche Vite.

1.Apply your base coat and white polish.

2.Apply the pink nail polish to the thumb, purple on your middle finger and your blue shade on your pink finger.

3.Create a fading effect on your index finger going from pink to purple and from purple to blue on your ring finger.

4.Make the tribal pattern with a black acrylic paint.
You can also use a black nail polish.

5.Apply your topcoat.

I hope you liked it.

Quick Leopard Foil Manicure

Hi!
Ok ok! Maybe I thought this school year was going to be easier than last year...
I know, I underestimated it! I have so much homework and stuff to study and so much reading to do and essays to write.
Basically school is preventing me from doing my nails and nail art.
And without a manicure I can't really post anything.
Plus I simply don't have time to blog.
So after all of my complaints, what I am trying to say is that I have been doing simple manicures and haven't really got time to post them.

So expect some more simple manicure like this one.

What I used:
Base Coat: Models Own 3-in-1.
Colors: Sephora Cha Cha, Misa Paydays Are Happy Days.
Other Products: Foil Glue, Leopard Foil.
Topcoat: Star Nail Art Finishing Sealer.

1.Apply your base coat and taupe polish, I choose to not use a base color for my ring finger and thumb.
I used Paydays Are Happy Days as my first base.

2.Paint 1 coat of a pearly nude polish over the taupe.

3.Transfer the foil on to the thumb and index finger.
Here is a tutorial on how to use your foils.

4.Apply a layer of topcoat.

I hope you liked it.

Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-nana

Hi!
I think that everyone has seen Despicable Me 1 & 2 by now.
If you haven't you should watch it now! It is such a funny movie!
And of course, I had to do a minion manicure.

What I used:
Colors: Sephora Yellow Umbrella, Claire's Lemon, Sephora CuraƧao, Paris Memories 236, Sephora Elegant Grey, Paris Memories 234.
Topcoat: Seche Vite.

1.Apply your base coat and yellow polish.

2.Make a blue rectangle at the top of the nail, leaving a small gap of yellow on both sides.

3.Outline the blue rectangle, make 2 line going outward to the side of the nails, make a smaller rectangle in the blue one and a small dot above it.
This is all you need to do for the pants.

4.Make a large grey dot at the bottom of the nail.

5.Make a smaller yellow dot in the middle of the grey dot and make 2 black stripes going to the side of the nail.

6.Make a small black dot in the middle of the white circle and make a smile.
If you don't want your minion to be happy you can always make a different expression.
But who doesn't like a happy minion?!

To make a minion with two eyes you just want to the same steps except you want to make 2 smaller eyes instead of 1 large eye.

I hope you liked it.
